Meaning and history
Kimmie is an English affectionate form of Kim or Kimberly. Kimberly began as an English surname and place name, originally meaning a woodland clearing associated with a person named Cyneburg; that Old English name combines elements meaning “royal” and “fortress.” Kim can also represent unrelated Korean family and personal names, so the English diminutive history should not be applied automatically in Korean contexts. A notable bearer is American figure skater Kimmie Meissner, the 2006 world champion.
In 2025, 9 babies were recorded with the name Kimmie, ranking #10,107 among girls.
