Kira is the Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian feminine form of Kir, a form of Cyrus whose ancient Persian meaning is uncertain. It is also used in modern English as a spelling related to the Irish names Ciara and Kiera, though those have a separate origin connected with the meaning "dark." Notable bearers include American actress Kira Kosarin and voice actress Kira Buckland.
