Meaning and history
Koralia is a Greek feminine name derived from Ancient Greek korallion, meaning “coral.” Its imagery connects the name with the marine organism and the red or pink material used in jewellery since antiquity. Koralia was also the name of an obscure fourth-century Christian saint and martyr associated with Thrace, giving it a religious history in Greek tradition. Notable modern bearers include Greek poet and actor Koralia Karanti and Greek basketball player Koralia Skiadopoulou.
