Meaning and history
Krystyna is the Polish form of Christina. Christina is the feminine form of Christian, ultimately from Greek Christianos, meaning “a Christian” or “follower of Christ.” The name therefore has an explicitly Christian religious origin and spread widely through saints and European royal families. The Polish spelling uses y where many neighbouring languages use i. Notable bearers include Polish-American mathematician Krystyna Kuperberg and Polish singer Krystyna Prońko.
