Meaning and history
Líadan is an early Irish feminine name, possibly derived from an Irish word meaning “grey lady.” It is best known from the medieval Irish tale of the poet Líadan and her lover Cuirithir, in which she becomes a nun and mourns their separation. The historical poet of that tradition remains the name’s best-known bearer.
