Luca is the Italian and Romanian form of Lucas, a name ultimately derived from the Greek Loukas. It has a long history in southern Europe and became widely popular internationally around the end of the 20th century. Notable bearers include Renaissance sculptor Luca della Robbia and mathematician Luca Pacioli.
