Ludivine is a French feminine name whose origin is not completely certain. It is probably a feminine form related to the Germanic name Leutwin, combining elements meaning “people” and “friend.” The name was brought to wider French attention by a character in the 1970s television adaptation of Les Gens de Mogador. Notable bearers include French actor Ludivine Sagnier and French professional golfer Ludivine Kreutz. Folk connections with “divine light” are not established etymology.
