Meaning and history
The name means “from Lydia” in Greek, referring to the region on the west coast of Asia Minor that was said to be named after the legendary king Lydos. In the New Testament, it is the name of a woman converted to Christianity by Saint Paul, and in the modern era it has been in use since the Protestant Reformation.
