Meaning and history
From an English surname derived from several French towns called Massy, which in turn came from the Gallo-Roman personal name Maccius, Macy came to wider public attention in 1989 with the introduction of the character Macy Alexander on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. It is also known as the name of the American department store chain founded by Rowland Hussey Macy in 1858.
