Meri is used in several languages, commonly as a Finnish and Estonian form of Mary or as a name drawn from the Finnic word meri, meaning “sea.” It also appears as a spelling or short form in other cultures. Finnish writer Meri Genetz and Armenian singer Meri Voskanian are notable bearers.
