Milagros is a Spanish feminine name meaning “miracles.” It developed from the Catholic title María de los Milagros, “Mary of the Miracles,” referring to miraculous acts attributed to the Virgin Mary. The name therefore has a devotional origin rather than simply expressing good luck. Notable bearers include Dominican volleyball player Milagros Cabral and Peruvian journalist and television presenter Milagros Leiva. Mila and Mili may be used as affectionate short forms.
