Misti is a modern English feminine spelling variant of Misty. Misty comes directly from the English adjective describing something covered in mist and belongs to the tradition of nature-inspired word names. The altered final vowel does not create a separate ancient origin. The name also recalls the jazz standard “Misty,” composed by Erroll Garner, although the song did not create the word. Notable bearers include American basketball player Misti Cussen and American actor Misti Traya.
