Naomi comes from a Hebrew name meaning my pleasantness. In the Old Testament, Naomi is the mother-in-law of Ruth and returns with her to Bethlehem after the deaths of their husbands. The name was long used in Jewish communities and spread more widely in English after the Protestant Reformation. Notable bearers include model Naomi Campbell and tennis player Naomi Osaka.
