Meaning and history
Nazar has several origins. In Ukrainian and other Slavic languages it is a form of the biblical Nazarius, associated with Nazareth, while in Arabic and Persian nazar means “sight,” “regard,” or “vow.” Ukrainian footballer Nazar Voloshyn and artist Nazar Bilyk are notable bearers.
In 2025, 19 babies were recorded with the name Nazar, ranking #5,045 among boys.
