Meaning and history
Néstor is a Greek name meaning “returner” or “homecomer,” derived from νέομαι (neomai), “to return.” In Homer’s Iliad, it belonged to the king of Pylos, renowned for his wisdom and long life, who served as a counsellor to the Greek allies. The name was also borne by a few early saints.
