Meaning and history
Nevukhadnetztzar is an uncommon transliteration of Nebuchadnezzar, from the Akkadian royal name Nabu-kudurri-usur, meaning “Nabu, protect my heir” or “protect the boundary,” with scholarly interpretation of the middle element varying. Nebuchadnezzar II was the sixth-century BCE king of Babylon who conquered Jerusalem and appears prominently in the Book of Daniel. The spelling reflects a particular transliteration tradition. Modern personal bearers are exceptionally rare; its significance is historical and biblical.
