Norah is a variant of Nora, traditionally a short form of Honora or Eleanor. Through Honora it is associated with the Latin word honor, while Eleanor has a separate and uncertain origin. The spelling gained renewed attention through singer Norah Jones. Another notable bearer was Irish writer Norah Hoult.
