Meaning and history
Owen is the English form of the Welsh name Owain, whose exact origin is uncertain but may be related to the Latin Eugenius or older Celtic elements. Medieval Welsh princes and Arthurian tradition helped preserve the name, and Owen Tudor became the grandfather of Henry VII of England. A prominent modern bearer is actor Owen Wilson.
