Meaning and history
Pallas is an ancient Greek name of uncertain etymology, borne by several mythological figures. It is especially familiar as an epithet of the goddess Athena, Pallas Athena, though ancient explanations for the title differ. Other figures named Pallas include a Titan and a companion whom Athena accidentally killed in some traditions. The asteroid Pallas was named for the goddess. As a modern given name it is rare, and reliable prominent real-life bearers are limited.
