Meaning and history
Latinized form of the Greek Πάτροκλος (Patroklos), meaning “glory of the father,” from πατήρ (patēr) meaning “father” and κλέος (kleos) meaning “glory.” In Greek legend, he was one of the heroes who fought against the Trojans, and his death at the hands of Hector led his friend Achilles to return to the war.
