Pythagoras

This name is derived from Pythios, an epithet of Apollo, combined with Greek ἀγορά (agora), meaning “assembly” or “marketplace.” It was borne by a 6th-century BC Greek philosopher and mathematician from Samos, who founded a school of philosophy whose members believed that numbers described the universe.
