Quick answer
Raiden is a boy name.
Pronunciation: Japanese /ɾä.i.de̞ɴ/; English /ˈɹeɪ.dən/.
Meaning and history
From Japanese 雷 ( rai ) meaning "thunder" and 電 ( den ) meaning "lightning". This is a regional epithet of the Japanese god Raijin. The video games Mortal Kombat (1992) and Metal Gear Solid 2 (2001), which featured prominent characters by this name, helped familiarize it to the western world. It entered the American charts in 2007, probably also because of its similarity to names such as Jayden and Brayden.
