Meaning and history
From an English surname derived from the town name Rimington in Lancashire, meaning “settlement on the Riming stream,” Remington may also have been given in honor of the American manufacturer Eliphalet Remington (1793–1861) or his sons, who founded the firearms company that bears their name.
