Meaning and history
Reyes means “kings” in Spanish and comes from the title of the Virgin Mary, La Virgen de los Reyes, or “The Virgin of the Kings.” According to legend, the Virgin Mary appeared to King Ferdinand III of Castile and told him that his armies would defeat the Moors in Seville.
