Meaning and history
Ridha is a North African and French-influenced transliteration of the Arabic masculine name Riḍā, meaning “contentment,” “satisfaction,” or “approval.” It is the same underlying name represented by Reza in Persian. In Shia tradition it is associated with Ali al-Ridha, the eighth Imam, while it is also widely used by Sunni families. Notable bearers include Tunisian filmmaker Ridha Behi and Tunisian footballer Ridha Rouatbi. The spelling reflects regional pronunciation and transliteration.
