Meaning and history
Robena is a Scottish and English feminine form of Robert. Robert derives from the Germanic name Hrodebert, combining hrod, “fame,” with beraht, “bright,” and means “bright fame.” The feminine ending became especially familiar in Scotland alongside forms such as Robina. A notable bearer was Scottish-born Australian physician and social reformer Robena Jull, who worked in maternal and child health and women’s public life. Modern use is uncommon.
