Meaning and history
Robina is a feminine form of Robin or Robert used especially in Scotland and English-speaking countries. Robert comes from Germanic elements meaning “fame” and “bright,” yielding “bright fame.” Robin developed as a medieval diminutive before becoming independent and unisex. Robina therefore carries the same Germanic name-family origin. Notable bearers include Australian politician Robina Higgins and Scottish suffragist Robina Scott Addie.
