Meaning and history
Rolo is a familiar form of Roland in Spanish and other European usage, and may also shorten Rocco or related names in individual families. Roland derives from the Germanic name Hrodland, combining hrod, “fame,” with land, “land” or “territory.” The legendary warrior Roland of the medieval Song of Roland gave the name heroic literary significance. A notable bearer is Argentine-Mexican writer Rolo Díez. The intended full-name source should be confirmed for each bearer.
