From Roma, the Latin name of Rome, combined with a diminutive suffix, Romulus is the legendary name of one of the twin sons of Rhea Silvia and the god Mars. In Roman legend, he killed his brother Remus after they disagreed over where to found the city and was said to have named Rome, though historically the name of the city likely came first.
