Meaning and history
Sabina is the feminine form of Roman Sabinus, Latin for "a Sabine." The Sabines of central Italy were eventually absorbed by Rome after several wars; legend says their abducted women made peace when Sabine men came to rescue them from the Romans. Several early saints bore the name.
