Samiya

Samiya has several uses in Arabic and other Muslim communities. It is often a spelling variant of Samia, from Arabic sāmiyah, meaning “elevated,” “lofty,” or “sublime.” In some regions it may represent other similarly pronounced names, so original script is useful for certainty. The masculine relative Sami has distinct grammatical forms. Notable bearers include Somali-American poet Samiya Bashir and Pakistani film and television actor Samiya Mumtaz.
