Meaning and history
Simonette is a rare French- and English-influenced feminine form of Simon, created with the diminutive suffix -ette. Simon comes from Hebrew Shimʿon, meaning “he has heard,” and gained major Jewish and Christian significance through biblical figures, including the apostle Simon Peter. The suffix adds a feminine or affectionate quality without changing the root. Simonetta is the better-established Italian form. Reliable prominent real-life bearers using exactly Simonette are limited, so namesakes should not be invented.
