Solon is an ancient Greek masculine name, probably derived from a word meaning “lump of iron” or connected with wisdom, though its exact etymology is uncertain. Its chief historical bearer was Solon of Athens, the sixth-century BCE lawgiver, poet, and statesman whose reforms became foundational to Athenian political development.
