Meaning and history
Søren is the Danish and Norwegian form of Severinus, derived from the Roman name Severus meaning "stern" or "serious." It became especially well known through Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, a foundational figure in existentialism. Other bearers include film director Søren Kragh-Jacobsen and cyclist Søren Kragh Andersen.
