Meaning and history
Stetson comes from an English surname derived from the Devon place name Stidston, meaning Stithweard's town. It became strongly associated with the wide-brimmed hats made by John B. Stetson and later developed into a modern American given name. A notable bearer is American football quarterback Stetson Bennett.
Stetson rose from #155 to #136 for boys between 2024 and 2025. That year also produced its highest recorded birth count, at 2,662.
