Tatjana is a German, Dutch, Scandinavian, and South Slavic form of Tatiana. Tatiana derives from the Roman family name Tatianus, itself related to Tatius; the deeper etymology of Tatius is unknown. Saint Tatiana of Rome, an early Christian martyr, made the name especially important in Eastern Orthodox tradition. Notable bearers include German model Tatjana Patitz and Serbian actor Tatjana Šojić. The letter j represents a y sound in many of the languages using this spelling.
