Meaning and history
Tinúviel is a literary name created by J. R. R. Tolkien in his Elvish language Sindarin, usually translated as “daughter of twilight” or associated with the nightingale. It is the epithet given to Lúthien, the immortal heroine of the tale of Beren and Lúthien. Its use as a real given name remains rare and directly inspired by Tolkien’s works.
