Meaning and history
Ulrich comes from the Old German name Odalric, formed from uodil, meaning “heritage,” and rih, meaning “ruler” or “king.” It was borne by two German saints, and a later famous bearer was Ulrich Zwingli (1484–1531), also known as Huldrych, who led the Protestant Reformation in Switzerland.
