Meaning and history
This name derives from the Latin name for the Italian region of Veneto and the city of Venice, associated with the place name Venetia. It was borne by the celebrated English beauty Venetia Stanley (1600–1633), although in her case it may have been a Latinized form of the Welsh name Gwynedd, and Benjamin Disraeli later used it for the heroine of his novel Venetia (1837).
