Meaning and history
This name comes from the weekday name Wednesday, which derives from Old English wodnesdæg meaning “Woden’s day.” It was also used for the Addams Family daughter in the 1964–1966 television series, based on an earlier unnamed character in Charles Addams’ cartoons, and was inspired by the nursery rhyme line “Wednesday’s child is full of woe.”
In 2025, 37 babies were recorded with the name Wednesday, ranking #3,903 among girls.
