Meaning and history
Xochipilli is a Nahuatl divine name meaning “Flower Prince,” from xōchitl, “flower,” and pilli, “prince” or “noble child.” In Aztec religion, Xochipilli was associated with flowers, music, dance, games, feasting, and artistic pleasure. A famous stone statue of the deity survives in Mexico’s National Museum of Anthropology. The term is primarily the name of a god rather than a conventional personal name, so real-life given-name bearers are exceptionally uncommon.
