Meaning and history
Zebulun is a Hebrew name derived from זְבוּל (zevul), meaning “exalted house.” In the Old Testament, Zebulun is Jacob’s tenth son and Leah’s sixth, and he is regarded as the ancestor of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Genesis 30:20 links the name to the related verb זָבַל (zaval), which is translated in different Bible versions as “exalt,” “honour,” or “dwell with,” reflecting Leah’s statement that her husband will exalt or dwell with her.
In 2025, 23 babies were recorded with the name Zebulun, ranking #4,396 among boys.
