Meaning and history
Zedekiah comes from the Hebrew name צִדְקִיָּהוּ (Tsiḏqiyyahu), meaning “Yahweh is my righteousness,” formed from צֶדֶק (tseḏeq), “justice” or “righteousness,” and יָהּ (yah), a reference to the Hebrew God. In the Old Testament, it is the name of the last king of Judah.
