Meaning and history
Alia is the feminine form of the Arabic name Ali and means "lofty," "high" or "sublime." It is used throughout the Arab world and in Muslim communities elsewhere. Notable bearers include Queen Alia of Jordan, for whom Amman's international airport is named, and Indian actress Alia Bhatt.
