Alya has several origins. In Arabic it is a feminine form related to Ali and means "lofty" or "sublime"; in Slavic languages it can be a diminutive of names such as Alevtina, and the same word names a star in Serpens. Notable bearers include Indian television actress Alya Manasa and Slovenian singer Alya, born Alja Omladič.
