Meaning and history
Bertram means “bright raven,” from the Old German elements beraht, meaning “bright,” and hram, meaning “raven.” It has long been confused with Bertrand, was introduced to England by the Normans, and was used by Shakespeare in All’s Well That Ends Well (1603).
