Meaning and history
Cosmo is the Italian variant of Cosimo. It was introduced to Britain in the 18th century by the second Scottish Duke of Gordon, who named his son and successor after his friend Cosimo III de’ Medici. The name was also the seldom-used first name of Jerry’s neighbor Kramer on the American sitcom Seinfeld (1989–1998).
