Meaning and history
Dania has several possible origins. In Arabic it may represent Dāniya, meaning “near” or “close,” a word appearing in the Quran. In European usage it can be an elaboration of Dana or a feminine form connected with Daniel, meaning “God is my judge.” Dania is also a Latin geographical name for Denmark. These traditions are unrelated. Notable bearers include Dominican-American actor Dania Ramirez and Danish singer Dania O. Tausen.
Dania rose from #1000 to #855 for girls between 2010 and 2023. Its highest annual birth count came in 2007, with 313 births.
