Meaning and history
Hassan is most commonly a variant spelling of the Arabic name حسن, usually transcribed Hasan, though it can also represent the distinct but related Arabic name حسّان, with a doubled middle consonant and final long vowel, meaning “beautifier” or “improver.” Hassan ibn Thabit was a 7th-century poet and companion of the Prophet Muhammad.
Hassan rose from #649 to #626 for boys between 2024 and 2025. That year also produced its highest recorded birth count, at 447.
