Meaning and history
Nadya is a variant of Nadia, a Slavic short form of Nadezhda, meaning “hope.” Similar Arabic forms may instead be related to a word meaning “tender” or “delicate.” Russian artist Nadya Tolokonnikova and Ukrainian singer Nadya Dorofeeva are notable bearers.
